Friendships can be hard enough to maintain without having to deal with pressure and scrutiny from the public.  Unfortunately, even some of the strongest friendships can’t withstand the heat of the spotlight.  As a result, many celebrity friendships have come to a very shocking and public end.  Over the years, fans have witnessed many of the most famous friend pairs call it quits.  Some of these friendships ended as a result of jealousy and greed – while other ended simply because people and things change. Sadly, in many cases, these friendships were never able to be repaired.  Here are 10 pairs of celebrities who used to be friends but aren’t anymore.

10. Jennifer Williams and Evelyn Lozada

Reality TV stars Jennifer Williams and Evelyn Lozada were the most notorious BFFs in Basketball Wives history.  Unfortunately, all of that changed during the fourth season of Basketball Wives when their feud escalated to the point of physical violence.  After Lozada slapped Williams, their friendship took an irreversible turn. Williams eventually pressed charges for the assault, which resulted in her removal from the show.  In 2014, after years of not speaking, Lozada attempted to apologize to Williams; however, Williams did not accept the apology and the friendship has not been reconciled.

9.  Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna

Legendary pop star, Madonna, and Academy Award winning actress, Gwyneth Paltrow, were once a BFF match made in celebrity heaven.  However, several years ago, reports began surfacing that there may be some trouble in paradise for the famous friends.  In 2010, a source revealed: “They don’t speak. I can’t tell you exactly why they had the falling out, but Gwyneth can be jealous and competitive.”  Paltrow also fired a subliminal shot at Madonna when she stated that she was having a “situation with a friend.” Over the years, the disdain between the former friends has become more obvious with Madonna going so far as to completely ignore Gwyneth at the 2013 Met Gala.

8.  Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus

In 2014, Demi Lovato revealed why her and fellow pop star Miley Cyrus were no longer friends.  Although Lovato stated that she was happy for Cyrus, she also shared that their friendship had to an end because  According to Lovato the two had simply grown apart and no longer had anything in common.  Many fans were shocked to see the split between the two celebrities who had been friends since they were both stars on the Disney Channel.

7. Heidi Pratt (Montag) and Lauren Conrad

Former reality TV show stars Heidi Pratt (Montag) and Lauren Conrad were once one of the closest BFF pairs in MTV history.  Unfortunately, after several feuds, Heidi was forced to make a choice between her boyfriend and her bestie (the last name will tell you who she chose). Even more unfortunately for everyone involved, he disagreement eventually led to the end of their once popular reality show, The Hills.  Over the years, the two have been unable to repair their friendship although they have admitted to speaking since the show’s end.

6. Denise Richards and Heather Locklear

Denise Richards and Heather Locklear are another pair of famous friends who found themselves at odds over a man.  The two, who were once extremely close, ended their friendship after Richards began dating Locklear’s ex-husband, Richie Sambora.  Although Richards was painted as the villain, she insisted that her friendship with Locklear was over before she and Sambora started dating.  During an interview, Richards stated: “If Heather and I had been friends at that time, I would never have crossed that line. But we weren’t. The friendship was not salvageable, and in the beginning Richie and I just talked as friends because we were dealing with similar situations. We never planned for anything to happen.” Although all three have since reconciled, Locklear and Richards’ are certainly not friends.

5. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie

During the early 2000s, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie’s friendship was one of the best parts of their reality TV series, The Simple Life.  However, in 2007, Hilton confirmed that the two were no longer friends when she stated: “I will not go into the details of what happened. All I will say is that Nicole knows what she did and that’s all I am ever going to say about it.” Although the public was shocked to see the end of such an epic friendship, Hilton and Richie did not drag each other’s names through the mud.  During a recent interview, Richie shared that she had not spoken to Hilton in a longtime, but she still loves ” her [Hilton] and love her family and have a lot of respect for her.”

4. Jennie Garth and Tiffani Thiessen

Jennie Garth and Tiffani Thiessen – two of the most popular TV stars of the 90s – formed a friendship after starring together on the his series Beverly Hills, 90210.  In 2012; however, Theissen confirmed that the friendship was over and stated: “We had a falling out and we grew apart. I was the one who was hurt, let’s just say that. I was the one who was hurt. It’s funny, our relationship started really rough and ended the way it started.”

3. 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather

In 2012, 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather proved that money can come between anyone.  The former besties, both millionaires, had a falling out after 50 Cent claimed that Mayweather had swindled him out of $2 million.  According to Fif, Mayweather asked for help running Mayweather Promotions, which was later revealed to be non-existent. Over the years, tensions between the two have continued to rise. In 2014, 50 Cent took to Instagram in an attempt to humiliate Mayweather by calling him illiterate. During the height of the ice bucket challenge’s popularity, 50 Cent challenged Mayweather to a reading challenge in which he would donate $75,000 to charity if Mayweather could read a passage from a Harry Potter book.  Although 50 Cent is known for his famous feuds, his shot at Mayweather was a low blow – even for him.

2. Katy Perry and Taylor Swift

2014 may have been a great year for Katy Perry and Taylor Swift as artists, but it wasn’t such a great year for their friendship. During an interview, Swift made what many considered a subliminal comment about Perry, when she was asked about the song “Bad Blood” off of her most recent album 1989.  During an interview, Swift stated: “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’” Swift said. Then, “She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.” Swift also claimed that her frenemy, “tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

1. David Letterman and Jay Leno

Before becoming internationally known, comedians David Letterman and Jay Leno were good friends. For years, the public speculated that the friendship between late-night funny guys came to an end when Letterman was overlooked to replace Johnny Carson’s seat on The Tonight Show. However, during an interview with Oprah in 2012, Letterman revealed that their friendship really ended as a result of Leno’s insecurities. Although the two have never been able to regain their friendship, the tension between  helped fuel both of their successful careers.
