Anika Noni Rose, a Tony Award winner, just wrapped up production for the lead part in Beast Mode, the TBS/Macro television series’ pilot episode based on the life of renowned boxing coach Ann Wolfe. Additionally, she is a co-executive producer.

Rose played Carmen Jones in John Doyle’s production of the play at the Classic Stage Company in New York City in 2018. She also starred alongside Bill Skarsgard, Bella Thorne, Suki Waterhouse, Maud Apatow, and Joel McHale in the Sam Levinson-directed thriller “Assassination Nation”, as well as opposite Amandla Stenberg in the movie “Everything, Everything”, which is based on the well-known young adult novel by Nicola Yoon.

Rose again played the major role in the two-season BET television series “The Quad.”

In addition, she played Kizzy in the Roots adaptation that aired on The History Channel (NAACP Image Award nom for Outstanding Actress).

Among her other television appearances are the Starz series “Power”, CBS’ “The Good Wife”, ABC’s “Private Practice”, CBS’ “Elementary”, and FOX’s “The Simpsons.” She has also starred in A&E’s adaptation of Stephen King’s “Bag of Bones” opposite Pierce Brosnan and HBO’s “The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency”, which was directed by Anthony Minghella and starred Jill Scott.

She’s the daughter of  John Rose Jr. and Claudia Rose. She has a brother called Khani Rose.
